The weekend starts on Friday night with a dessert reception. (We suggest you eat dinner prior to the gathering.) While the reception is not part of the mystery, per se, it is a great icebreaker and allows you to meet your partners-in-crime. You don’t need to dress up for it and you don’t need to act; all we request is that you don’t discuss your roles in too great a detail. We’ll review game rules and set the stage for your mystery weekend.
Saturday morning you’ll enjoy our 3-course breakfast, served between 8:00 a.m.- 9:30 a.m. Afterwards, you are free to enjoy Camden and the surrounding area.
Saturday evening starts with Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. All guests are asked to be in attendance in costume and ready to deceive, as all characters are formally introduced. This is followed by an interactive dinner, with a variety of Chef Phil’s creations from which to choose. Throughout the cocktail hour and dinner, you are encouraged to mingle, play your role and spread out around the inn in order to bribe, blackmail and, in general, be sneaky in obtaining as many secrets about the other characters as possible. There is lots of play money to use in protecting your secrets or buying others! These secrets will come in very handy later in the evening.
Everyone is then called to dinner where you continue to act out your character in whatever you feel is most appropriate (or least appropriate, as the case sometimes is!). At some point in the evening, someone dies. It might be you…or maybe you are the one who did it.
In any case, the evening continues with lots of finger pointing as the secrets slowly become revealed. Guests protest that they are being framed. Others protest…perhaps too much. Some people stay quiet, trying to think it all out amidst the noise and accusations. Beware of everyone!
The evening is drawn to a close with a round of secret ballot voting on who did it and why. The ballots are read out loud and the murderer is revealed.
Sunday morning’s breakfast is a group affair as everyone does another round of voting. This time the votes are for: Best Dressed, Best Actor and several other superlatives. All in good fun and a time to enjoy before you head home.
Call For Reservations
For this event, space is limited to guests staying at the inn. Please call to make your reservation. (We aren't doing online booking for this weekend.) We'll help answer additional questions you have and ask you some questions, too, to better assist in assigning the appropriate character for you.
After you've reserved, we'll email you additional details about the weekend. About 10 days prior to your arrival, we'll email you your character packet. Do Not Let Anyone See The Contents – For Your Eyes Only! Do Not Try to Sneak Peeks At Your Partner’s Packet!
Reservation & Cancellation Policy:
Murder mystery weekends are interactive, highly enjoyable, and to some, somewhat fatal. Because the guests play all the roles, each participant is vital to the success of the weekend. A last minute cancellation can negatively affect the fun and entertainment of everyone else. For this reason, the following conditions must be kept in mind should the unfortunate need to cancel come into play.
For cancellation notices received greater than 14 days in advance of your arrival, a charge of 50% of the total cost will be retained. If we can rebook the room and the characters, you will receive a refund of your deposit, less a $50 per person ($100 per couple) processing fee. If the characters and room are not resold for the weekend, you will not receive a refund of your deposit
For cancellation notices received within 14 days or closer to the arrival date, a penalty of 100% of the total charges will be assessed if the characters and room are not resold for the weekend. If the characters and room are resold for the entire weekend, you will receive a refund of your deposit, less a $50 per person ($100 per couple) processing fee.
Please note that if you arrive after the date specified or depart earlier than scheduled, there will be a full charge for those nights. Additionally, please note that gift certificates are non-refundable with no cash back on unused credits.
